Information for Company Drivers
Who is a “Company Driver”?
There are several types of Company drivers - you could be required to drive as a part of your job (e.g. security patrol, sales person, or are working a delivery assignment) or you could have to rent a car if you are out of town for a business reason. You also are considered a driver if you have to drive between two worksite locations during the course of your job (but typically not ‘off the clock’ driving from your home to the worksite and/or from the worksite back to your home).
Requirements:
Employees who drive for Company business must have/maintain:
a current, valid driver’s license
proof of valid insurance
submit to a motor vehicle background check that comports with DPI standard requirements.
Training:
Company Driver Training (please ask your supervisor if you have access to RISE.com)
Relevant Company Policies:
Personal Liability - Please be aware that if you are driving your personal vehicle during the course of your work, your vehicle is not covered by the DPI auto policy. You must have your own automobile insurance. (This is not to say that workers’ compensation and/or other programs and policies would not be available should an accident occur).
