735 - INCIDENT REPORTS (Security)
The purpose of this policy is to communicate the situations where incident reports are required.
Anytime an Officer requests assistance from a First Responder, by either emergency 911 call or non-emergency call, the Officer is required to complete an Incident report. The Incident report will include the date, time, type of request, Agency that responded, Agency Case Number, the responder’s identification, assisting DPI Officers, and any witnesses. This report will include all the details of the incident. This report is required to be completed as soon as the incident has been resolved.
Anytime an ‘Armed’ or ‘Less Than Lethal’ Officer prepares to use, by drawing and pointing it in the direction of another person, or uses any of the issued defensive tools (ASP Baton, Defensive Spray, Taser, or Handgun) due to protecting themselves or another person, the Officer is required to fill out an Incident Report. This report will be submitted to the Branch Manager for review and approval. Once approved by the Branch Manager the report will be filed in the DPI system and a copy sent to the appropriate Agency.
